Set on a quiet road, with three private acres of meadow and forest, the renovation leans into modern interiors, plenty of light, and thoughtfully designed spaces for hosting and dining.
The House Tour. A cheerful front door leads to the open-concept living space, where light floods into every room even on the coziest of days. A few nautical finishes, like porthole windows and shiplap paneling, add texture to Black Bear’s modern layout and black-and-white design elements.
The open kitchen, modern appliances and spacious dining area create a dream space for dinner parties. Serve cocktails and catch up with friends at the countertop bar all while cooking with ease. The living room is anchored by a crackling wood stove, and around the corner is a studious library nook with just enough privacy to fully immerse while still being present with the group. The first floor also features a full bathroom with a walk-in shower and washer/dryer.
Upstairs is the spacious primary suite with noteworthy design elements and a shared en suite bathroom. Across the landing, with its dramatic floor-to-ceiling window, there are two more bedrooms, and a bonus room currently staged as a bedroom.
Design Notes & Contents. Black Bear Cottage was originally built in 1902, and has undergone a complete gut renovation and restoration in 2020. All house contents are included in the sale, with the exception of personal items, making this truly a turnkey home.
The Grounds. The wrap-around deck ensures access to sunshine all day long, all while adding privacy to the property.
Treat yourself to a long soak in the hot tub on the back deck under the stars. Summers are for dining al fresco, with a grilling station and fire pit for crisp evenings.
Host overnight guests in the sunny tiny house, which has its own sleeping loft, kitchen, and bathroom.
The Area. Perfect basecamp for outdoor adventures in the Catskills, including the Rail Trail walkable just behind the Black Bear property. Just two miles outside of Livingston Manor, at the base of Catskill Park, Black Bear Cottage is a stone’s throw from incredible dining, shopping, and gathering. Only a five minute drive to Main Street Manor, which is a weekender’s delight. With two renowned breweries, a well-stocked grocery store, organic wine shop, and plenty of places to eat, there’s always something exciting to enjoy in town.
Black Bear's aesthetic sensibility is refined yet unpretentious, a siren call for Catskills enthusiasts. This basecamp is located at the entrance to the Catskill Park, and is only 100 miles to New York City.
